Forssa Vocational Institute educates dozens of future tower crane operators yearly in Finland. During the six months of studies, students perform more than 250 hours of hands-on practice – including driving practice and different kinds of lifts with both crane simulators and school tower cranes. Most importantly, students also learn the rules and practices of safe communication.
In May 2020, Trenox wanted to support the education of new professionals and provided a new tool to the vocational institute. TX Crane Cam, the most advanced crane camera on the market, is now being used in studies by the future tower crane operators.
TX Crane Cam improves the accuracy and safety of the lifts and comes in handy especially when performing blind lifts. The camera system can be used either from the crane or remotely. During the education of crane operators, the camera view can be seen by the student driving the crane, as well as the teacher and fellow students.
“We are planning to also film some teaching videos with it,” one of the teachers, Tapani Hara, says.
TX Crane Cam is filming with full HD-image quality and has a memory card large enough to film up to 5 days. Currently, the crane camera is used in technical training and when practicing blind lifts.
The perspective of the camera is very handy when the driver has to estimate distances, and it allows great visibility to attachments and mountings.Tapani Hara
Tapani Hara is working daily with the crane operator students and knows that they have been happy with the new camera system. Students are praising the quality and smooth, trouble-free connections of the camera.
Many of the students have been surprised by how big a difference there is between the quality of TX Crane Cam and other cameras that we use. You can actually even read a newspaper somewhere down there with it.– Tapani Hara
A camera system that works seamlessly is giving students an opportunity work with high-quality products before entering the working life.
